A way into the present
“Common Ground" is a Hong Kong–based creative collective founded in 2021, positioned in contemporary dance, with choreography at its core. We see it as a coordinate left behind amid turbulence and the pandemic; the name comes from The BATTLE: “From battleground to common ground.” Rather than turning performance into a consumable thrill, we focus on building a clear point of entry within each work—so audiences can truly step into the live moment: into time, into space, and into what is unfolding through bodies and language.

“Common Ground” hopes to continue cultivating a culture of looking—one with a clear way in, while still leaving enough space for each audience member to generate meaning at their own pace. We use choreography as a method, allowing dance to become a gentle invitation: a way of stepping into the present.
