WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Lo Chien
Macao Theatre Culture Institute

"Body Codes" concretely presents the suppressive atmosphere of a vacuum space, and the body images of boundaries, limits, norms, coercion, silence, deprivation, boredom, abandonment, suffocation, repetition, that embody the physical power of the new generation.

“Bode Codes” is a courageous creative experiment. The dancers dare to explore a huge theme and bravely face their own struggles and worries.

Through observing one's own growth and life under various compound cultures, they offer an interesting and playful alternative with their own body, and create a higher perspective on the most intimate social and cultural topics in recent years.

“Body Codes” is a project produced by Kenny Leung to record the city and its history through solo dances.

Body Codes: Post-colonial Blue Birds invites 8 emerging dance artists from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to reflect on the changes of their cities in the post-colonial era. From the perspective of these young individuals, the production reveals the struggles in identity and social issues experienced in these three places.
